AgeLab C3 Consortium Researchers Host Member Webinar
by Adam Felts
AgeLab director Joe Coughlin and researchers Chaiwoo Lee, Sheng-Hung Lee, Shabnam Fakhr-Hosseini, Heesuk Son, and John Rudnik hosted a webinar for members of the C3 Connected Home Logistics Consortium. The researchers presented on needs of home technology users and use cases for future home services, with the goal of providing some answers to the question of how new home technologies can address the unmet everyday needs of consumers, and more generally, what it means for a home to be a “smart home.”
The researchers used data collected from in-person interviews in multiple modes to identify key needs and discuss how people of various characteristics could benefit from a connected home in different ways, with attention to income, comfort with technology, and particular needs and worries.
Learning what real-world users want and need from their home is an initial step toward the C3 Consortium’s aim of both imagining and designing the connected home of the future.
